ANORA - criterion release
For the behind-the-scenes documentary accompanying the Anora Criterion release, I composed two original pieces—one for the opening and one for the end credits—designed to mirror the film’s energy and creative spirit.
The documentary itself was assembled basically entirely from iPhone footage, capturing the chaotic, run-and-gun nature of the production in a way that felt immediate and alive. That sensibility definitely informed my musical approach. Rather than aiming for polish, I leaned into something imperfect but intentional—music that felt in conversation with the filmmaking process rather than outside of it.
The opening cue is playful and electronic, drawing inspiration from the tonal world established at the beginning of the film itself. For the closing credits, I shifted into something slower and more organic—reflective, understated, and grounded.
The process was so collaborative and fun. It was a privilege to contribute to a documentary that supports such a singular film, and to do so in a way that embraced its spontaneity rather than smoothing it out.
