Fabletics - THE DON PANT

Original score composed for Fabletics' advertising spot for The Don Pant.

The Project

The Don Pant spot came to me through a close collaborator, with a brief that was specific from the start: write something in the vein of The Godfather. The original cut was temped with Nino Rota's score, which set a clear tonal target, while leaving room to make something entirely original. The challenge wasn't really imitation, but understanding what made that reference work, and then building something new that served the spot on its own terms.

The Approach

I leaned into the orchestral language of classic crime cinema — strings, woodwinds, a deliberate tempo — while writing melodic material that was original to the piece. The goal was to evoke the aesthetic without borrowing from it.

The most interesting creative decision came at the end of the spot, where the score shifts from that orchestral foundation into a hip-hop beat. On paper it's an unlikely move. In the edit, it lands — the contrast earns its place because the melodic progression leading into it gives the shift somewhere to come from. Genre juxtaposition works when the music earns the turn, and I think this one does!
